Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was born on 8th May 1975 at Madrid, Spain as the third and youngest child of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and a journalist Isabel Preysler. He started his musical career by recording a cassette tape consisting of a Spanish song and two English songs. He managed to release them with the assistance of Fernan Martinez under the stage name ‘Enrique Martinez’. Later he dropped out from the University of Miami and moved to Toronto to record his first album.
In 1995 Iglesias released a collection of light rock ballads which sold over one million copies in three months. After becoming a great star he signed a contract with a universal music group and Interscope records in collaboration for releasing Spanish and English albums respectively. His album ‘Por Amarte’ obtained him Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop performance. He commenced his first concert tour and covered sixteen countries. In 1999 he stepped to English language music industry. He performed a single song for the movie ‘Wild Wild West’, henceforth he became famous and released his first English song CD.
In 2001, Iglesias released his second album in English, named ‘Escape’. It achieved as the biggest commercial hit in his career. Thereafter he performed ‘One night stand world tour’ of fully booked fifty shows in sixteen countries. During the year 2007 to 2009, he released more songs and obtained major hits. Consequently, he performed several live concerts in Syria, South Africa and throughout Europe. In 2010, Iglesias released his new label, Universal Republic. The album was released with seven English original and six Spanish original songs.
